Real estate law - Previous owners never resolved leak damage with unit below?

I bought a condo a few months ago. (California) My neighbor introduced themselves and mentioned that at one point there was a leak from bathroom that did minor damage to their unit. They asked if previous owner mentioned the issue and implied that they want me to repair the damage even though the leak stopped and their wall damage has dried. Am I liable?
